Globalisation
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Fellows, all along I have believed that globalisation has never benefitted the African continent and has been praying that new modes of achieving this would be dully identified and implemented. For those of you that have had an economics lesson, you will concur with me that the dependency theory makes globalisation impossible.

Africa has the resources but it is not benefitting from the resources. Developed countries have used their might to impose conditions that lead Africa to exporting their valuable resources at very meagre prices.

My fears were concurred by the UN chief Ban Ki Moon recently, when he told a high-profile meeting in Ghana that Africa is yet to benefit from globalisation.

Unless this attitude where the developed countries stiffle efforts by the underdeveloped to balance up, globalisation will remain a phenomenon where the least developed countries do not benefit.
